Kudos to SPANOH and Kurt Bateman, Columbus, OH
Greetings, Kurt,
You and I serve together on the state council of SPANOHIO. I was very excited to hear at our last council meeting you will be posting photos to our Healthcare Is A Human Right Collaboration photo petition group. I look forward to your first upload.
I am also very excited you are considering filing a petition to place your name on the 2012 primary ballot for the position of party representative from your precinct / ward. The deadline for that filing in Ohio is 12/07/11. You should consider checking that date. I have not confirmed it since the state drew new lines for our political districts. You should also double check to see if your county party elects party precinct representatives every two years or every four years. If it’s every four, that aspiration will have to wait till 2014. However, you could place your name on the 2012 primary ballot for the position of state party representative from your state senate district. Continue reading
Celebrating the United Nations Charter and Rotary International in October
by Chuck Watts, Co-Founder, Empathy Surplus Project, 937-725-4317
Caring Citizens Chapters, chartered by the Empathy Surplus Project, celebrate October 17-24 as United Nations Week, and October 24th as United Nations day. We do so because we believe that caring citizens communicating American values, shared by the United Nations, is the solution to expanding liberty and human rights for all. The core values of the Empathy Surplus Project are empathy, shared responsibility, and strength.
Currently there are two Caring Citizens Groups exploring affiliation with the Empathy Surplus Project: one in Wilmington meeting Wednesday evenings; and one in Dayton meeting Sunday afternoon. Continue reading
“This book is about values and how to communicate them.” Thinking Points Chapter 1
by Chuck Watts, Co-Founder
I love the Caring Citizens’ groups that are emerging in Wilmington and Dayton, OH. I met with one of them last night in Wilmington, and for the first half of our hour we discussed Thinking Points, Chapter 1: “Winning and Losing.”
One of my friends at the group confessed she had chosen just to be silent in the face of conservative ideas being advanced all around her. She shared a story of a young extended family member advancing ideas that were disturbing to her and rather than object she chose silence. She hoped the study of Thinking Points and this group would encourage her to advance her own ideas of love and compassion. Continue reading
